Ranchi, Oct 2: The chief security officer of Jharkhand Chief Minister’s security is understood to have told the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that he was not aware of how two cops of the Chief Minister’s security entourage were working as bodyguards of tainted power broker Prem Prakash.

Well-placed sources claimed that the chief security officer in his written reply has denied his involvement in dispensing two cops of the CM security to the service of Prem Prakash. He stated that he had not given any such instruction — either verbal or written — to these cops to serve Prem Prakash.

The chief security officer, DSP Vimal Kumar, who was earlier summoned by the ED for questioning as two AK-47 police weapons were recovered from the rented residence of Prem Prakash.

During searches on August 24, these weapons along with 60 bullets were seized from the residential premises of Prem Prakash at Harmu Housing Colony in Ranchi. These weapons were issued to cops Mukesh Kumar and Shyamal Horo, and they were posted for security at the Chief Ministers house. However, they were found to be discharging their duties at the residence of the accused Prem Prakash.

As per the seizure report, both the weapons bearing registration No. KT-48-5633’ and Butt no. RNC-210 and KP 51-4144 and Butt No. RNC-242 respectively along with 60 rounds of 7.62*39 mm live ammunition loaded in two magazines with police clothing were found inside a steel almirah.

The chief security officer might have sought a clean chit for him, but the ED has extracted from his statement what exactly was required to support the prosecution theory that Prem Prakash was very influential to get bodyguards from the CM’s entourage.
