New Delhi, Nov 2: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has attached 28 movable properties worth Rs 10.12 crore belonging to murdered gangster Vikas Dubey and his cronies, according to the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Over two years ago, the UP Special Task Force shot and killed Dubey.

On the basis of a FIR that the Uttar Pradesh Police had filed, the investigative agency had opened a money laundering investigation.

“During the course of the investigation, properties worth Rs 10.12 crore purchased in the names of Vikas Dubey and his family members, Jaikant Bajpai and his family members and his associates were identified. These properties were derived from proceeds of crime earned by criminal activities of Vikas Dubey. He along with his aides was involved in various kinds of offences like organised crime, land mafia, corruption and embezzlement of the funds meant for Public Distribution System (PDS) etc,” the ED said in a statement.

The assets were purchased using illegal proceeds that the defendants produced, according to the ED.

A deputy superintendent of police was among the eight police officers allegedly killed by Dubey and his associates. On September 14, 2020, the ED filed a complaint under the PMLA, over two months after the encounter that claimed Dubey’s life.
