New Delhi, Nov 7: In response to the spike in dengue cases in the state, former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari on Monday wrote to the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. He has demanded immediate central government intervention in the dengue situation and has requested the Centre to send a team to give relief to dengue-affected people in Bengal.

“…the State of Bengal is in the midst of a Health Emergency. At a time when you are choking in the national capital, the people of West Bengal are tormented by mosquitoes,” Adhikari’s letter read.

I have also pointed out in my letter that the condition has worsened due to the financial crisis of the WB Govt.
So, in a way, the bankruptcy which the State Govt is facing has started to affect public health & has resulted in the loss of lives.
It's alarming.

Adhikari said in a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya that the state administration has been withholding information and censoring dengue statistics as a result. Government hospital doctors have been instructed to document deaths caused by fever and haemorrhage or by unidentified fever.

Serious claims of theft of monies provided by the central government for these reasons have also been made by him. Suvendu has asked the federal government to dispatch a group of medical professionals to support and advise the West Bengal government.

He has also asked for an investigation into data that was provided by the state government, and after careful examination and investment, the guilty parties ought to face consequences.
