New Delhi, Nov 11: The Taliban has now issued another directive for Afghan women after banning them from Kabul’s theme parks on Wednesday. According to The Associated Press, women in Afghanistan will no longer utilise gyms.

An official in Kabul claims that since the Taliban came to power more than a year ago, they have been cracking down on women’s rights and liberties, including barring women from using gyms in Afghanistan.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (MPVPV), the ban was implemented because people were disobeying orders mandating gender segregation and because women were not donning the required headscarf, or hijab.

The Ministry of Virtue and Vice’s ban on women using gyms and parks, according to Mohammed Akef Mohajer, a Taliban-appointed spokesman for the organization, “went into effect this week.”

“The Taliban “tried its best” to avoid closing parks and gyms for women over the past 15 months, ordering separate days for male and female access,” he added.

According to Mohammed Akef Mohajer, the theme parks and gyms will be observed to see if ladies are still visiting them. Alison Davidian, the UN’s special representative for women in Afghanistan, denounced the restriction.

In 2021, the Taliban took over. Girls are not allowed to attend middle school or high school, and they must appear in public head-to-toe clothing.
