Dhanbad, Nov 14: Despite the holiday in wake of Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary and Jharkhand Foundation Day (November 15), all five medical colleges of the state will remain open tomorrow and hold the orientation programme for the 1st professional MBBS batch of 2022-23 academic sessions as per the directive of the National Medical Commission(NMC).
The NMC has directed all the medical colleges across the country to hold classes for the 1st MBBS professional batch of 2022-23 sessions after the admission of the 1st counselling on November 15.
In this regard, Dr SK Singh, the director of medical education of the state health department, has shot off a letter to the principal of all five medical colleges to kick start the classes for the new MBBS batch from Tuesday (November 15) as per the scheduled calendar of NMC.
“Of course, we would celebrate the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and observe the station foundation day function. But same time we would also follow the directive of NMC,” said the director of medical education.
Dr Singh, who is also the principal of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital, Hazaribagh, said that his college would hold an orientation programme tomorrow and classes from Wednesday (November 16).
In the wake of NMC as well as the director of state medical education’s directive, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad principal Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad has asked all admitted students of 2022-23 sessions to remain present in the orientation programme tomorrow. He said the guardian of the student may also attend the programme in which boys and girls would be briefed about the rules and regulations of the institutions.
Director Dr Singh in his letter to the principals has also attached the academic calendar of 2022-23 sessions in which each student will have to adopt 3-5 families in rural areas, attend a 10-day mandatory Yoga course, ‘Charak Shapath’ and visit two blocks for 15 days after completion of 2nd and 3rd MBBS professional.
Dumka medical college to hold a debate
Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital, Dumka would hold a debate on the occasion of Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary tomorrow. Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary, the principal, said that on the directive of Sido Kanho Murmu University, a debate on the topic of ‘contribution of freedom fighters’ would be organized tomorrow.
