Ranchi, Nov 15: The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has accepted pleas of over a dozen Pharmacy colleges of the state and allowed the institutions to take admissions on the original number of seats. Notably, PCI had earlier reviewed the institutions on various levels and ordered them to stop admissions and decrease the number of seats by 20 in their B Pharma and D Pharma courses for the session of 2022-23.

As per information, the PCI has reversed its instructions after appeals were made by the institutions and after the said institutes submitted affidavits in this regard.

The Council in its 379th meeting of the Executive Committee gave its consent to retain the seats of all these institutes for the year 2022-23 after the appeals from the institutes. For this, the concerned institutes had to provide an affidavit in the prescribed format stating that the institutes have removed all the deficiencies and fulfilled all the necessary qualifications for enrolment on the said seats.

Furthermore, the council has informed the state government and the state Pharmacy Council in this regard. The Council stated that the Council had earlier lessened the number of seats on which admissions were allowed. The issues pointed out by the council mainly included a shortage of teachers and not enough lab instruments for all seats. The Council had earlier also raised questions over the teachers in several institutions not being qualified enough.

Colleges, where admissions were completely stopped, include Tetri Chandravanshi Pharmacy College Palamu (D Pharma, B Pharma), SSMT College of Pharmacy Koderma, (D Pharma), Jeeramani Jagadish Institute of Pharmacy Chatra, (D Pharma, B Pharma), Bright School of Pharmacy Bokaro (D Pharma), RS Roy College of Pharmacy Dumka (D Pharma, B Pharma), Arogyam Pharmacy College, Garhwa (B Pharma), Kalavati College of Pharmacy, (D Pharma).

Meanwhile, seats were reduced by 20 at Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Dhanbad; Jharkhand Pharmacy College, Ranchi and Arogyam Pharmacy College, Garhwa.
