Jamshedpur, Nov 26: A 35-year-old transporter sustained a gunshot injury while he was taking dinner at a restaurant in Telco around midnight.
The victim identified as Satyendra Rai sustained a bullet injury in the right thigh and has been referred to RIMS for better treatment from the Tata Main Hospital where he was rushed soon after sustaining the gunshot injury.
Though the injured is yet to give a statement regarding the reason behind the circumstances leading to the incident, the police suspect the firing might be a fallout of an altercation between the friends over something during dinner.
Moreover, the police are yet to find out whether the gun that caused Rai to get injured was licensed or not.
OC, Telco PS Ranvijay Sharma said they have taken some suspects in custody for interrogation in connection to the firing incident.
“As providing medical relief to the victim was our priority, we could not get a formal statement from him regarding the incident. But we gathered that the firing incident took place due to an altercation with the friends over the dinner table at the restaurant around midnight,” said Sharma while talking to lagatar24.com.
It may be mentioned here that the victim Satyendra Rai is a registered transporter with Tata Motors Ltd and would visit the restaurant at Kharangajhar for the dinner on regular basis.
Significantly, a police officer who chipped in on the investigation observed that the police are also looking into the angle of whether Rai got injured by the pistol which he might have tucked in the waist and accidentally its trigger was pressed.
