Jamshedpur’s Rohan Shandilya bags 4th JCA Blitz Chess title

Dhanbad, Nov 28: Title favourite Rohan Vijay Shandilya of East Singhbhum bagged the prestigious 4th JCA Blitz Chess title a mark of supremacy in Jharkhand chess.

Rohan got the highest 9 points in 10 rounds, leaving Manish Sharma of West Singhbhum (8.5 points) in the second and Debanjan Sinha (8 points) of East Singhbhum in the third position in the tournament which concluded at United Club, Bistupur.

Besides the trophy, Rohan also got the highest cash prize of Rs 10,000. Manish Sharna (Rs 6,000) and Debanjan Sinha (Rs 5,000) also got cash prizes. A total of 102 ranking players of Jharkhand participated in the tourney.

Adhiraj Mitra of East Singhbhum and Kamal Kishore Debnath of West Singhbhum also got 8 points and got a cash prize of Rs 2,000 each for the 4th and 5th positions.

Organizing secretary Pritam Singh said the top 30 players in the tournament were given cash prizes.

 

Souryadipta Sarkar of Jamshedpur got the 6th position with 7.5 points while Priyanka Kumari of West Singhbhum, who is the highest International rating player (1944) in the state, got the 7th position in the tournament with 7 points in 10 rounds.

Ankit Kumar, Biswajit Chatterjee, Basant Khandelwal, Naman Agrawal, Aditya Sinha, Kumar Sankalp, Harsh Kumar Jha And Yuvraj Singh stood on 8 to 15th position ininhe tournament.

Manoj Kumar Singh, chairman of the Eastern India Khadi Board, Government of India, was the chief guest in the closing ceremony and gave away trophies as well as cash prizes to the winner and other participants. He appreciated the office-bearers of Jamshedpur Chess Academy (JCA) for encouraging the players and organizing the highest prize money tournament in Jharkhand.

East Singhbhum Chess Association general secretary NK Tiwary, Jamshedpur Olympic Association senior vice-president Harbhajan Singh, Pradeep Mukherjee, JCA secretary Pritam Singh, Lions Club of Jamshedpur secretary Asheem Dasgupta, and International Arbiter Deepak Kumar also graced the final ceremony.
