Indian Railway takes out vacancy for 2,521 posts, selection on 10th marks

Ranchi, Dec 1: The Indian Railways has invited applications for vacancies in 2,521 posts as apprentices for training under the Apprentices Act of 1961. The last date for application for the same is December 17, 2022.

As per the notification, the vacancies are available in several units including JPB Division, BPL Division, KOTA Division, WRS KOTA, CRWS BPL, and HQ JBP. Here, out of 2,521, 1046 posts are reserved for the UR category, 375 for SC, 181 for ST, 674 for OBC, and 245 seats are reserved for EWS candidates.

The trades offered here include carpenter, draughtsman, electrician, fitter, painter, plumber, welder, computer operator cum programming assistant, and blacksmith.

The minimum requirement for interested candidates is that they should have passed 10th from a reputed board. The minimum age allowed is 15, while the maximum is up to 24. The base of age calculation has been kept as May 1, 2022. Reserved category will be given relaxation as per rules.

Notably, here the selection of candidates will be done directly based on 10th marks without examination. Candidates should have passed an ITI course in relevant trade from a recognised institute. A merit list will be prepared by taking the average of percentage marks obtained by the candidates in both Matric and ITI courses.
