Samajwadi Party’s Dimple Yadav takes oath as Lok Sabha member

New Delhi, Dec 11: Samajwadi Party’s Dimple Yadav took oath as Lok Sabha MP on Monday after getting elected from Mainpuri parliamentary seat.

Dimple Yadav touched the feet of Congresswoman Sonia Gandhi, who was seated on the first row of the opposition benches, after taking the oath. She greeted members of the Treasury and Opposition benches both before and after the oath was administered. In Hindi, she took the oath.

“Samajwadi Party will raise many issues including inflation, employment opportunities for youth and the safety of women in Parliament,” she said after taking oath.

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), was spotted seated in the spectator gallery.

Following the passing of her father-in-law, SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, a by-election was recently held, and  Dimple Yadav won the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat.
