Parched Chatra to get water from Tilaiya Dam soon

Chatra, Dec 16: Three blocks of Chatra district that are facing a water crisis will now get water from the popular Tilaiya Dam of the Koderma district. A proposal in this regard was cleared by the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department (DWSD) making the Rs 90 crore project to become a reality soon.

Sources said Chatra block including town and rural, Kanhachatti and Giddhore facing a water crisis for a long time. DWSD executive engineer Vivek Ambala said a project in this regard was sent to the department related to the supply of water from the Tilaiya Dam. “Now we got approval and so the process will start to move ahead in this regard,” he added.

Sources said DWSD Hazaribag will do the work to lay underground pipes from Tilaiya Dam to Chouparan. From Chouparan to Chatra, this work will be done by DWSD Chatra. Officials said the Sump point will be made in Brahmpur near Chatra town from where the supply of water will be taking place.

Earlier, the department sent a proposal to store the water of the Tilaiya dam in the Baksha Dam of Chatra. But this proposal was rejected by the department.
