Ranchi, Dec 22: Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare in Jharkhand has taken out a proposal in which it has mentioned that students who want to study pharmacy after class 12 must give the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Exam. The proposal is yet to be approved by the cabinet.

If the cabinet gives its approval, the process of admission will start through the entrance exam. Earlier, students could apply for Pharmacy courses directly after class 12.

Notably, the government has started the process of taking admission to nursing colleges through the entrance exam from this session itself. For this, consent has also been taken in writing from all the nursing colleges. The date for admission to Nursing Colleges has been extended till December, so admission will be taken from this session.

However, this similar procedure will start in pharmacy colleges from next year.

Furthermore, nursing and pharmacy colleges in Jharkhand will not be able to run their arbitrariness during studies. For these colleges, a manual has been prepared for everything from admission to seat allotment and fee submission and colleges will now have to work according to this rule.

All government and non-government colleges of Jharkhand come under the purview of the rules of the health department.

In the proposal prepared by the health department, in all nursing institutes and pharmacy colleges, only those candidates will be admitted who pass the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination.

In these, JCECEB will have authority over all the seats in government institutions. This means, all these seats will be allotted by this procedure. While the allotment of 50 percent of seats of private institutes will be in the hands of JCECEB, the rest 50 per cent will be in the hands of seat management.

Along with the government, private institutes will also charge the fee fixed by the government, but these rules will be applicable only to 50 percent of seats. Even on 50 percent seats of private institutions, JCECEB exam passed students will get admission on the basis of merit list.
