Dhanbad, Dec 27: Coal India Limited (CIL) has called for the JBBCI meeting on January 3 at Kolkata to finalise the XIth National Coal Wage (NCW) agreement pending for 18 months.
Rajarsh Dhar, chief personnel officer (manpower and industrial relation) officer of CIL has in this regard today issued notice for the JBBCI meeting on January 3 and invited nominees of CIL and four central trade unions BMS, HMS, AITUC and CITU for the meeting at Kolkata.
Notably, the Cong-affiliated trade union India National Trade Union Cong (INTUC) has not been invited to this meeting again.
Over 2.46 lakh miners of coal India Limited, including 81,000 miners of Jharkhand-based Central Coalfield Limited (CCL), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) would be benefited from the NCW XI agreement.
The NCW XI agreement has been due since July 1, 2021. So far, seven meetings between CIL management and JBBCI members (Representatives of central trade unions) have failed to be decided.
All central trade unions including BJP’s Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) had announced a meeting at Ranchi on January 7 to announce the strike date for the NCW XI agreement. But CIL management today announced the date for the agreement.
All India Trade Union Cong (AITUC) senior leader and JBBCI member Lakhan Lal Mahto said that trade unions are hopeful that at the 8th meeting on NCW XI as management has called it on very short notice.
“It looks like some progress has occurred in the 7th meeting deadlock and management has come up with a positive approach to remove the hurdle in agreement, “ said Lakhan Lal Mahto.
The representatives of trade union leaders who have been invited to Kolkata for the January 3 meeting are K Lakshma Reddy, Surendra Kumar Pandey, Sudhir H Ghurde, KP Gupta (BMS), Nathulal Pandey, Shiv Kant Pandey, Siddharth Gautam, Shiv Kumar Yadav (HMS), Ramendra Kumar, V Seetharamaiah (AITUC), DD Ramanand, Arup Chatterjee and Sujit Bhattacharya (CITU).
