New Delhi, Dec 30: The National Investigation Agency had filed a charge sheet against 11 people accusing them of organising terror training camps and recruiting young people for the outlawed Popular Front of India in Telangana, an official announced on Friday.
According to an NIA Special Court spokeswoman, the charge sheet against the 11 accused, 10 from Telangana and one from Andhra Pradesh was presented to the court on Thursday.
The case was re-registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 26 after being initially lodged on July 4 at the VI-Town police station in Telangana’s Nizamabad district.
“Once recruited into the PFI (Popular Front of India), Muslim youths were sent to training camps organised by the PFI under the cover and guise of yoga classes and physical education…,” the NIA official said.
According to the NIA charge sheet, PFI used yoga camps to train recruits in using everyday articles to target vulnerable body parts.
According to the official, Abdul Khader, Abdul Ahad, Abdul Saleem, Shaik Shadullah, Feroz Khan, Mohammad Osman, Syed Yahiya Sameer, Shaik Imran alias “Imran Qureshi”, Mohd Abdul Mubeen and Mohammad Irfan of Telangana, and Shaik Iliyas Ahmed of Andhra Pradesh were charge-sheeted under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
