Ranchi, Jan.2: Loss in tune of crores is expected due to the fire which broke out at a pickling house at Usha Martin factory at Tatisilwai today.
Pickling is metal surface treatment used to remove impurities, such as stains, inorganic contaminants and rust or scale from ferrous metals, copper, precious metal and aluminium.
An insider informed this saying “there is no loss of human life but the financial loss must be in the tune of crores as the pickling house has burnt,” the insider said.
Fire station officer at Tatisilwai Janardan Tiwari said he got the information regarding the fire at 12.15 pm and sent one after another five fire tenders. “Within three hours the fire was brought under control. We visually observed PVC sheet burning. The reason behind the fire was the short circuit,” he said.
Officer-in-charge of Tatisilwai police station, Mahendra Karmali, supported the insider saying the place where work of washing iron was done came under the fire.
“Officials have been asked to give details of the loss by tomorrow,” Karmali said.
In the evening, Usha Martin also issued an official communiqué regarding the incident. The communiqué suggested that the company properly handled the situation and there is no loss of life. The communiqué, however, missed to inform about the loss assessment.
