Daltonganj, Jan 4: Three automatic cages and net have arrived at the forest office in Garhwa. The consignment reached around 10:45 pm on Tuesday from Meerut. Intense fog all over UP delayed transportation, said the conservator of forest (CF) Garhwa Dileep Kumar Yadav.
He said that earlier they had the plan to offload the consignment right at Bhandarya but now after giving hours of rest to the truck crew, their people will accompany the consignment crew to Bhandarya this afternoon.
“The first thing that we will be doing today is to set up these 3 automatic cages side by side with our previous automatic cage. We hope and pray 4 automatic cages will find out one leopard which has kept everyone on the live wire,” CF added.
Sources said a research scholar of the wildlife institute of India Dehradun Shahzad is also in Garhwa these days assisting the team to entrap the leopard.
CF Garhwa said the young research scholar is putting his efforts with them into tracking the leopard.
In another big development, the DFO North Garhwa Shashi Kumar has sent a letter to the Hyderabad hunter Nawab Shafath Ali Khan to handle the leopard menace in accordance with the situation.
CF Garhwa has confirmed it saying this official letter to Nawab would ease his problem of carrying his consignment of sophisticated arms, ammunition and other tools and equipment for drug immobilisation/capture/hunt etc of the man-eating leopard here in Garhwa.
