Jamshedpur, Jan 9 : A deserted road leads to Kanke, on the outskirts of Ranchi, where the temperature plummeted to zero degree Celsius (freezing point ) on Monday.
Yesterday, Kanke known as the cold couldron of the state located some 8 Kms away from Ranchi had notched a minimum temperature of one degree Celsius.
A senior Met and agriculture scientist associated with Birsa Agriculture University, Abdul Wadood while confirming this said the assault of the North Wind resulting in plummeting minimum readings across the state and that such weather condition was expected to continue for another 48 hours or so.
“Clear skies and the dry north-westerly wind will have an impact on the Celsius for another 48 hours ,” said a duty officer at the Ranchi Met Centre.
According to Met statistics, Kanke today recorded minimum temperature of 17.5 degree Celsius. BAU’s surface observatory today recorded wind speed of 2.2 Kmph.
Notably, the chill has intensified in Jharkhand with most places including Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Daltonganj and Deogarh recording sub- 10 chill.
