Jamshedpur, Jan 10: A mob of about 50 people ransacked a nursing home in Adityapur on Tuesday afternoon following the death of a 10-year-old girl due to alleged medical negligence.
The situation was brought under control after a police party arrived at the spot and successfully dispersed the perturbed lot.
Moreover, a chaotic situation cropped up at Shiva Nursing home in Adityapur this afternoon after the girl, Aradhya Kumari, died cause of a complication developed in her fractured leg.
The daughter of Shailesh Jha who is a resident of Vastu Sai Colony in Adityapur had brought his daughter for treatment at the Shiva Nursing home on January 4. Aradhya had got her left leg fractured due to an accidental fall.
The doctors at the nursing home plastered the leg and allowed the girl to go home. But during this period, infection developed in the leg which got also swollen intensely.
Considering her deteriorating condition, Jha brought his daughter to the nursing home. Having examined the leg, a doctor at the health hub referred her to Tata Main Hospital. But the girl succumbed to the complications even before being taken to the Tata Main Hospital.
Then first the bereaved family members created a chaotic situation accusing the nursing-home management to have neglectfully treated the girl. Later, a mob of their sympathisers arrived there and started ransacking the nursing home.
The police party arrived at the spot after the nursing-home management informed the Adityapur thana.
Officer-on-duty, Adityapur thana, Mahendra Singh confirmed the trouble at the Shiva Nursing home after the alleged medical negligence behind the death of a minor girl.
“We have pacified the disturbed sympathisers. We look into the whole matter after getting a formal complaint, ” said Singh while talking to lagatar24.com.
One of the protesters said a section of doctors has set up nursing homes like the Shiva Nursing home only for making money.
“If the case was so critical, then the doctors concerned should have referred the girl to the Tata Main Hospital from the very beginning. But they preferred to earn the money by haphazardly plastering the fractured leg. And when the complications developed, then prompted to refer the patient to a better hospital,” observed the protesters.
Meanwhile, the agitated protesters have set up a blockade on the Kharkai bridge, disrupting the vehicular communication between the steel city with Adityapur, demanding action against the management of the Shiva Nursing home and Dr Abhishek Kumar who had treated the victim girl.
