Dhanbad, Jan 12: Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) Sindri unit, the ambitious project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has begun the commercial production of urea. The plant on Thursday dispatched its first commercial consignment of 1228.500 metric tons of neem-coated urea to Burdwan (West Bengal).
HURL human resources (HR) officer Vikrant Kumar said that the first rake of urea consignment was dispatched through Bogie Covered Wagon (BCN) to Burdwan from the HURL Sindri unit.
Though unofficially, HURL had dispatched urea to Deoghar on November 8 by three trucks, this was the first-time urea was sent through BCN wagon from the plant.
Divisional Rail Manager (DRM) of Dhanbad said that the manual loading of 1228 tons of urea worth Rs 47,401 was done at Sindri HRUL Siding at 1:50 Am on January 12. The neem-coated urea in the 21 BCN wagon was sent to Burdwan under PM Shakti Gati Scheme.
On this auspicious occasion, senior officers of HURL and Dhanbad Rail Division were present.
HURL Sindri unit has come up in the place of FCI Sindri which shut down in December 2002. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of the Sindri, Barauni and Gorakhpur plants simultaneously on May 25, 2018.
The Sindri Plant of HURL has a capacity of producing 11.50 lakh tons of urea per year.
