New Delhi, Jan 15: Thousands of people protested in Tel Aviv on Saturday night against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the plans his government has proposed for the Israeli judicial system.
As per information, police estimated that more than 80,000 people flooded central Tel Aviv`s HaBima square and surrounding streets, while others held parallel protests in the streets of Jerusalem.
Attendees carried signs comparing Netanyahu to Russian President Vladimir Putin and claiming that Israel was turning into semi-democratic Hungary and theocratic Iran.

Concerned about Israel’s future, the protesters sent a message to Netanyahu saying that the public would not accept what they see as the dismantling of Israel’s democracy.
According to Esther Hayut, president of Israel`s Supreme Court called the proposed amendments as ‘a disorderly attack on the legal system’ and ‘designed to force a fatal blow on the independence of the judicial system.’
Notably, the proposed reforms introduced last week by Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin seeks to reform Supreme Court nominees through a review committee and allow the authority to reject Supreme Court decisions.
