Daltonganj, Jan 15: The police have cracked the mystery of human remains found on Saturday. The assistant superintendent of police cum sub-divisional police officer Rishabha Garg held a press briefing informing that the human remains were those of 55-year-old Uday Kumar Vaid.

Garg further said, “We say that because of the confession of his son Rakesh Kumar Vaid (32), who identified the skull to be that of his father. Rakesh has confessed to killing his father over a property dispute with him on January 10.”

However, we will be waiting for the DNA test of the remains that were sent to RIMS Ranchi on Saturday.

Notably, Rakesh killed his father because the father had a second wife who was very abusive towards Rakesh.

Garg said that the son along with his kin Pankaj first gagged his father and then set him afire.

“This case is a premeditated murder as the son tried to hoodwink police earlier. Notably, he had filed a missing report for his father four days after the murder.

The Sadar police station officer in charge Gautam Kumar and his team were initially sceptical, after which they quizzed Rakesh. Afraid, Rakesh confessed to committing the crime, added Garg.

Garg said that Rakesh thought that he could save his skin but he got exposed because of his lies.

Gautam Kumar and his team, notably, cracked the case within five days as Rakesh and Pankaj were remanded in judicial custody on Sunday.
