Ramgarh, Jan 18: Tarsem Lal Nagi, 85, a resident of Punjab, has provided an old age home and a small eye hospital for the old and poor people in the Ramgarh district.

The Onkar Old Age Home in Palu village is the first privately built home in Ramgarh and the surrounding area is gradually becoming a major attraction for the people. Spread over three acres of land, it is located in the lap of nature. It is equipped with modern facilities and is available free of cost. Many elderly men or women can seek shelter temporarily or for the rest of their lives. The old age home is very near to Ranchi and Ramgarh districts.

“Despite owning a foreign passport, we can never forget India. We always want to do something special for our country. Onkar old age home is a modest initiative in this way. I wish to do more for my native land. I request all the destitute elderly men and women to come here for a peaceful life,” said the founder.

A local in-charge, Rajesh Kittu said, “Over 50 elderly people can stay here without any problem. We will further enhance the construction of the old age home for old people. A hospital is located nearby to provide immediate medical assistance to its residents.”

“We will set up cottage industries such as candles and incense stick-making for the elderly. They can work as farmers or cottage industry owners for their income and the utility of time. All income from farming and cottage industry will be for the old age home and their residents,” he added.

Ganuari Mahato, the caretaker said, “It is a boon for the elderly who do not have a house or children. A wide variety of vegetables, fruits and food grains are grown here. Also, the rooms are equipped with several things that an old person requires. They can study here like school children and also pray for long hours.”

Moreover, Nagi has also built an old age home in Odisha and there are plans to set up more hospitals in India.

The old age home consists of a nursery and an orchard. Elderly people can spend time working in the fields. The scenic beauty and tranquillity of the area are highly appreciated.
