Ramgarh bypolls: Voting to be held on Feb 27, counting on March 2

Ramgarh, Jan 19: In view of the Ramgarh assembly by-election, a meeting has been organised with the representatives of recognised political parties in the District Collectorate meeting hall on Thursday.

A Gazette notification for the Ramgarh assembly by-election will be issued on January 31, 2023, nominations can be submitted till February 7 and scrutiny of candidates will be done on February 8. The last date for withdrawal will be till February 10. Voting for the by-election will be held on February 27, ballot counting will take place on March 2, and the election process is excepted to be completed by March 4, 2023.

Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Kumar Sinha said that a model code of conduct has come into force across the Ramgarh district after the Election Commission of India issued a notification for the Ramgarh assembly by-election.

The Deputy Development Commissioner said that considering the voter’s list published on January 5, 2023. The voters included in the updated voter’s list till the last day of enrollment will have the right to vote during the by-election.

A total of 405 polling stations have been set up in 233 buildings for the Ramgarh assembly by-election. There will be 118 polling stations in Ramgarh, 64 in Dulmi, 70 in Chitarpur and 153 in Gola block.  A total of 3,34,167 voters (1,72,923 men and 1,61,244 women) will exercise their right to vote in the by-election.

Moreover, Ramgarh DDC said that as per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, all political parties must remove all propaganda material installed in government buildings within 24 hours after the announcement of the by-election, while at other public places, it is mandatory to remove any kind of propaganda material within 48 hours. He also said that it is mandatory to take prior permission from the owner/claimant of the private site for publicity on private sites as well.

Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey said the district administration is prepared to hold a by-election in a free and fair manner. The district administration has set up checkposts at various entrances and exits of the district. The magistrates and the police force are also delegated to the checkposts.

Mohammad Javed Hussain, Sub-Divisional Officer cum Election Officer, Ramgarh Assembly Constituency said that the model code of conduct and a detailed copy of ‘what to do’ and ‘what not to do’ during the elections, has been made available to the representatives of all recognised political parties by the District Deputy Election Office.

The Election Officer, Ramgarh Assembly Constituency cum Sub-Divisional Officer, District Transport Officer, District Deputy Election Officer, Assistant District Public Relations Officer, all representatives of recognised political parties and others were present during the meeting.
