Hazaribag, Jan 22: Alok Kumar, Secretary to Ministry of Power, Government of India is on a visit to Pakri Barwadih coal mines of NTPC in Barkagaon with joint power secretary Piyush Singh.

Kumar, while on his visit met 12 women haul pack drivers. Praising the women, he said that they were examples in society. He further claimed that continuous labour was needed to meet the growing need of power in the country.

All these drivers are operating large-size 100-ton haul pack machines. For this, NTPC has provided them with training.

Both officers talked to the women and asked them about their roles and work. Later the duo went to the mines and also to the Sikri office. They planted saplings and took information about the Pakri Barwadih project later.

Deputy commissioner Nancy Sahay and superintendent of police Manoj Ratan Chauthe earlier welcomed the officials along with senior NTPC officials on Saturday.
