New Delhi, Jan 28: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah asked for help in providing the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir with adequate security.
The Congress claims that the J&K Police withdrew security around its leader Rahul Gandhi as a result of soaring crowds during the foot march in Qazigund, which led to the suspension of the Bharat Jodo Yatra for the afternoon session on Friday. This is why Congress wrote to Shah after the Bharat Jodo Yatra was suspended.
“We are expecting a huge gathering to join the yatra over the next two days and also the function that will be held on January 30 at Srinagar. Many senior Congress leaders and leaders of other important political parties are attending the culmination function. I shall be grateful if you could personally intervene in this matter and advise the concerned officials to provide adequate security till the culmination of the yatra and the function on January 30 at Srinagar,” the Congress president said in his letter.
Security lapse during #BharatJodoYatra led to its suspension yesterday, after Sh @RahulGandhi’s security detail suggested same.

After the ‘unfortunate security lapse’ that occurred during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he claimed to be writing.
The Yatra had to be suspended, according to Kharge, on the suggestion of the security personnel in charge of Rahul Gandhi’s security detail.
“We appreciate the Jammu and Kashmir Police and welcome their statement saying they will continue to ensure complete security till the culmination of the journey,” he said.
