Dhanbad, Jan 31: Three days after the Hazra Memorial Hospital fire incident where five persons, including Dr Vikash Hazra and his wife Dr Prema Hazra died, Dhanbad police have lodged an FIR against unknown persons.

The Bank More police station officer in charge PK Singh said that on the complaint of Ayush, son of the doctor couple, an FIR was lodged under  IPC Sections 304, 436 and 438 against unknown persons on Monday late evening and began an investigation.

Notably, around 2 am on January 28, a fire broke out in the storeroom of RC Hazra Memorial Hospital based at the Telephone Exchange Road in Purana Bazar under the Bank More police station in Dhanbad. In the incident, Dr Hazra couple, the owner of the hospital, his nephew, domestic help and his native villager suffocated to death. One person was also injured.

Ayush, the son of Dr Vikash Hazara, in the late evening of Monday, lodged a complaint at the Bank More police station alleging culpable homicide and setting fire to the building under conspiracy to damage the property.

In his FIR, he pointed out that it is a matter of investigation as the storeroom in which the fire broke out remained locked and no one goes there.

Similarly, The bedroom of  Dr Vikash Hazra, where he was sleeping, also had a stair towards the roof but no one informed the rescue team about it after the incident.

The FIR is valid as Prerna, the daughter of the Dr Hazra couple who reached Dhanbad on Sunday from Nepal, had repeatedly alleged that the fire was not an accident albeit it was a conspiracy to eliminate her parents.

Both Ayush and Prerna are students of Puducherry and Nepal Medical Colleges respectively.
