New Delhi, Jan 31: Visakhapatnam would be the new capital of the state, according to Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. He made this announcement while speaking in New Delhi at the International Diplomatic Alliance Meet.
“I am here to invite you to Visakhapatnam, which will be our capital. I will also be shifting to Vizag. I invite you and your colleagues to see for yourself how easy it is to do business in Andhra Pradesh,” said the Andhra Pradesh CM.
This occurs nine years after Hyderabad was chosen as the capital of Telangana, which was created out of Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra government, led by TDP’s N Chandrababu Naidu, had previously proclaimed that Amaravati, in the Vijayawada-Guntu region on the banks of the river Krishna, would come into being as the new capital, functioning out of Hyderabad in the meantime.
The state intended for there to be three capital cities in 2020: Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Kurnool. Later, the strategy was abandoned, and Amaravati officially remained the capital.
