New Delhi, Feb 7: In the wake of earthquakes in the western Asian nation, the Indian government has summoned an urgent meeting with Indian airlines that fly to Turkey.

Low-cost airline IndiGo from India provided free cargo transportation to Istanbul during the summit.

“The Indian aviation regulator has held a meeting with Indian carriers over operating flights to Turkey for cargo movements in commercial scheduled flights. IndiGo has offered free cargo movement on its scheduled commercial flights using Boeing 777 aircraft to Istanbul.” an aviation industry source told ANI.

The meeting includes representatives from additional ministries, and no decision has yet been made in this regard.

Foreign Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on Tuesday that the first Indian Air Force aircraft bringing disaster relief supplies and a rescue squad to assist with search and rescue operations in earthquake-stricken Turkey has arrived in Adana.

Early this morning, the C17 flight headed for Turkey with more than 50 members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a specially trained dog squad, and the tools needed for the relief activities, including medical supplies, drilling machines, and other equipment.
