Satapada, Feb 12: At least 100 people, two buses and other vehicles were stranded after a floating bridge vessel developed a technical glitch while sailing to Janhikuda from Satapada on Sunday.
As per information, the incident occurred at Janhikuda-Satapada under Krushnapada block in the Puri district of Odisha. The vessel was stuck one kilometre from the shore while heading from Satapada to Janhikuda. The floating bridge vessel was carrying above 100 passengers along with two buses and 10 bikes.
After receiving the information, Chilika Development Authority (CDA) officials reached the spot and undertook repairs to the floating bridge vessel.

Earlier on January 14, a passenger boat heading to Maa Kalijai shrine carrying 20 devotees got stuck midway in Chilika lake due to dense fog. This has prompted the local administration to temporarily suspend the boat service in Chilika lake until the fog subsided.
Notably, repeated incidents of floating bridge vessels getting stuck in the middle of Chilika lake have emerged as a matter of grave concern.
