Hazaribag, Feb 15: In a shocking turn of incidents, a 32-year-old woman Prachi Prakash was open-fired at in the home of her maternal grandmother in Marg near Bengali Durga mandap late Tuesday evening. Notably, Prakash was visiting from Patna for a few days.

The victim was soon rushed to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital from where she was referred to RIMS. Doctors said that Prakash sustained two bullet wounds, one on her shoulder and other on her jaws.
Prakash, while talking to reporters said someone reached on the first floor of the house at around 8 pm reached the room where she was. “As he aimed the revolver, I tried to cover myself with a blanket. However, he fired on me”, she added.
It is yet to be determined as who was behind the attack and why the crime was committed in such a manner at a house on a road which remains abuzz with activities till later hours every day. The said road is close to the main road of the town and even has a sadar police station situated nearby.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked fear among residents in the area, who said this was a clear example of deterioration in law and order in the district.
After receiving information about this incident, Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal sent his media in-charge Ranjan Choudhary to the hospital to ensure proper treatment of the victim. Later, he also reached the hospital and talked to the victim’s relatives.
Police officials have said that probe into the incident has begun and officials are scanning the CCTV footage of the area to identify the criminal.
