Dhanbad, Feb 15: BJP Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto on Wednesday had his bail petition rejected in two years old case related to attacking villagers with guns and bombs.
The MP, MLA court of special chief judicial magistrate Santoshni Murmu rejected the bail petition after hearing arguments from senior lawyer S N Mukherjee, who appeared for Dhulu Mahto.
Three times Baghmara MLA Mahto has been in jail since January 9, 2023 in connection with freeing an arrested warrantee from police custody and assaulting officers with his supporters in Boarora areas.
Notably, Mahto is facing trial for around 43 cases wherein he has been absolved in some cases and convicted in others.
Today, he had filed bail application in a incident related case from 2021. As per FIR lodged in Loyabad police station, Ramavatar Coal Company owner Amrit Singh under direction of Baghmara MLA Mahto had attacked over 300 villagers with bullets and bombs who were demanding work in the coal company on September 24, 2021.
The site in-charge of Ramavatar Coal Company Suraj Kumar Singh had taken signature of local 300 villagers assuring job when the coal company would begin mining in the area. However, the company began mining operation without informing the villagers.
When the villagers went to demand job at Loyabad Kankan Kata Ghar (coal weighing machine) on September 24, 2021, the henchmen of the company allegedly attacked them under directions from the MLA.
