New Delhi, Feb 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the government is heavily investing in the infrastructure sector in Uttarakhand to make life easier for people living in remote areas and bring the youth back to their villages, besides generating a range of job opportunities.

PM Modi made the remark during the virtual inaugural ceremony of the Rozgar Mela for Uttarakhand and congratulated the newly appointed candidates.
“Be it workers for construction, engineering, or raw material businesses and small traders, job opportunities are growing. With a rise in demand in the transport sector, youth are getting fresh employment opportunities,” said PM Modi.

On the migration of people from Uttarakhand to urban centres, he said improved digital and road connectivity in the hill state will provide them with employment opportunities in their region, including in the domestic tourism sector.
The prime minister further said, “The old perception of ‘pahad ka paani aur pahad ki jawani, pahad ke kaam nahi aati’ needs to be changed. There has been a continuous effort taken by the government to send back the youth to their villages while providing them with better employment opportunities.
In October 2022, Prime Minister Modi launched the first phase of the ‘Rozgar Mela’, where appointment letters were handed over to more than 75,000 new recruits, which marked the beginning of the campaign to provide 10 lakh government jobs.
