Daltonganj, Feb 22: Palamu police today arrested two and seized 14 kgs of marijuana from Palamu. The two have been identified as Krishna Gupta, 21, and Rohit Sharma, 21.

Giving this information this evening, the sub-divisional police officer Bishrampur Surjit Kumar said last night they got a tip-off about marijuana being shipped by a Patna-bound bus from Daltonganj.

“We did try to intercept the bus at Daltonganj but the bus had already moved on around 10:45 pm,”  said Surjit Kumar.

The Nawa Bazaar police finally intercepted the bus around midnight on NH 98 and quizzed the two passengers. They recovered 14 packets of marijuana each weighing 1 kg from their possession. Gupta and Sharma both are from Pipra Tarn and Chainpur police stations of Palamu.

An FIR was lodged by the officer in charge of the Nawa Bazaar police station DK Das and the two were booked under a section of the IPC and NDPS act.

Police also seized 2 cell phones. The marijuana consignment was alleged to have been given to these two by one Bittu Pandey to take it down to Patna. Pandey is yet to be arrested.
