Senior Women’s National C’ship: Jharkhand beat Punjab to enter semis

Kakinada, Feb 23: Jharkhand Women’s Hockey team defeated Punjab in the quarter-final on Thursday in the 13th Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship to reach the Semis.

Jharkhand defeated Punjab by a margin of 2-0 goals. For Jharkhand, Alka Dungdung scored 1-1 field goals in the 48th minute and Albela Rani Toppo scored 1-1 in the 52nd minute. Both the goals of the Jharkhand team were scored in the fourth quarter.

Albela Rani Toppo was awarded player of the match for her brilliant performance in the semi-finals. On reaching the semi-finals, Hockey India General Secretary cum Hockey Jharkhand President Bholanath Singh along with all the office bearers of Hockey Jharkhand congratulated and wished them all the best for the next match.

Notably, the 13th edition of Hockey India Senior Women National Championship started at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh on February 15 with players from 26 teams from various States and Union Territories vying for top honours.

 

Jharkhand squad: Anjali Binjhia, Sonal Minj, Ropani Kumari, Reema Bakhala, Reshma Soreng, Kaushalya Kumari, Sammi Bada, Simta Minj, Dipti Kullu, Deepti Toppo, Neetu Kumari, Subhashi Hemrom, Kajal Bada, Albela Rani Toppo, Pay Dungdung, Elin Dungdung, Roshni Dungdung, Alka Dungdung and Coach Bigan Soy.
