Ranchi, Feb 24: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday constituted a four-member committee of lawyers to visit the new high court building premises and submit a report on the facilities available for lawyers and clients there.
A division bench comprising Justice S Chandrashekhar and R Mukhopadhyay gave the order asking the committee to visit the site on February 26 and 27 and submit a report. The four members of the committee include Manoj Tandon, P.A.S Pati, Kaushik Sarkhel and Ankit Sharkhel.
The development took place after the court did not get satisfied with the affidavit filed by the state government, providing details of the facilities provided in the new premise for advocates and their clients. The court found the reply vague and lacking proper information to get a clear picture of the facilities provided.
The court asked Additional Advocate General Sachin Kumar to get information about the facilities by talking to all the authorities involved in the construction of the building, and to inspect the High Court building from time to time. The court has directed to keep at least two officials of the Building Construction Department present during the inspection of the lawyers. The court has directed the officers to cooperate with the lawyers’ committee.
The court has directed the committee to submit a detailed report by March 2. The next hearing will be on March 2 at 4 pm.
