Jamshedpur, Feb 24: Following concerted efforts, police and paramilitary forces on Friday afternoon recovered four IEDs from a jungle under the Goelkera thana area in West Singhbhum.

One of the IEDs weighed five kgs and the remaining explosives were of low intensity, weighing two to three kgsw.

The explosives were recovered from a jungle near Meralgeda village in Goelkera which falls under the jurisdiction of Kolhan forest division, presently under seizure of the Naxals.

The Naxals, including top leader Misir Besra, have entered into the jungle having planted IEds across the Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions since January’s first week.

Having come to know about the entry of the large number of Naxals there, the police and paramilitary forces had begun an anti-insurgency operation on January 11.

During the operation, which continues, over a dozen IEDs were blasted, causing 15 jawans belonging to the paramilitary forces to be injured besides causing casualties to two villagers.
