New Delhi, March 3: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while speaking on chances of her party forging an alliance for the 2024 general elections said, “we will not go with any other political parties and will fight alone with people’s support.”

“In 2024, we will see an alliance between Trinamool and the people. We will not go with any of the other political parties. We will fight alone with people’s support. Those who want to defeat BJP, I believe they will vote for us,” the chief minister was quoted as saying by the news agency ANI.

In reference to the BJP’s victory in the Tripura Assembly elections and the Congress party’s victory in the Sagardighi byelections on Thursday, Mamata Banerjee claimed that those who support the CPI(M) or the Congress party are really supporting the BJP.

Following the Congress’ victory in the Sagardighi bypolls, a political brawl broke out between the TMC and Congress, with each side accusing the other of siding with the BJP.

The TMC similarly struggled to gain traction in the Tripura Assembly election, coming up empty with even less than 1% of the vote.

Mamata Banerjee blamed the Congress’ attempt to form a “immoral coalition” with the BJP for her party’s loss in the Sagardighi byelection.

“I don’t blame anyone for our defeat in the Sagardighi byelection. But we strongly condemn the immoral alliance between the Congress and the BJP,” she said.

“If we count the BJP vote percentage, this time they have transferred their vote to the Congress party. So the Congress had the votes of the Congress-CPIM combine plus the BJP transferred its votes to them,” she added.
