Dhanbad, Mar 2: The AJSU Students Union today held a massive demonstration and Dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk against the study of Odia as a regional language in the university and the appointment of guest teachers.

AJSU Students Union university in-charge Hiralal Mahto and president Vishal  Mahto while addressing the demonstration said that students would not allow the study other state’s regional languages in Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad- Bokaro other than state’s own.

“If Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Sukhdeo Bhoi want to launch a study of the Odia language, he should open a private university for that. Study of the Odia language would not be allowed in BBMKU of Jharkhand.

“Rather than Odia language, VC should start a study of Jharkhand’s regional languages in postgraduate (PG),” said AJSU Students Union leaders.

Vice-chancellor Sukhdeo Bhoi, who belongs to Odisha and assumed the office of BBMKU last year, has announced to launch of a study of Odia language as a regional language in the university which has triggered sharp protests from students organisation.

Alleging large-scale irregularities and nepotism committed in the appointment of guest lecturers in the colleges, AJSU Students Union has demanded immediate cancellation of that recruitment.

“Students Union would not accept irregularities and nepotism in the appointment of guest teachers in any college. University first cancels them and should appoint those whose interview has already been taken,” said the union leaders.

A candidate for guest lecturer in PK Roy Memorial College Dhanbad has complained Chancellor of the university ( Governor) about nepotism in the appointment.

The BBMKU wing president Vishal Mahto alleged that BEd students of the university are being denied admission to PG courses.
