Islamabad, March 6: A Islamabad court on Monday reserved its verdict on a petition filed by Imran Khan against the suspension of his non-bailable warrant in the Toshakhana case.

Before the district and sessions court, Khan’s attorneys Ali Bukhari, Qaiser Imam, and Gohar Ali Khan appeared. Bukhari argued that his client has always complied with court orders.

Imam contended that if Khan was willing to show up in court on March 7, the Islamabad police could not detain him.

The judge then commented that the PTI leader could have requested a warrant suspension from the Islamabad high court.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) head was said to be at his Zaman Park mansion in Lahore, according to Bukhari and Imam, who both informed the judge that they asked the sessions court to stay the warrant.

Imam pleaded with the court to revoke the order, arguing that the PTI leader was the subject of a private complaint filed under the Election Act of 2017, and that typically arrest warrants were not issued in response to a private complaint.

The judge postponed a decision on the petition after noting that the PTI chief’s solicitor had told him that their client would not show up in court.

For repeatedly failing to appear before the court in the Toshakhana case, additional sessions judge Zafar Iqbal issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the cricketer-turned-politician on February 28.

Khan has come under fire for purchasing presents and then reselling them for a profit, including a pricey Graff wristwatch that he had acquired as the premier at a reduced price from the state storehouse known as Toshakhana.
