As per information, the boy fell into the borewell on March 14 and got stuck at a depth of 43 feet in the borewell. A parallel pit was dug with the help of JCB machines to pull out the child.

“We tried our best but it is regrettable that we were not able to save the child. The chief minister has also expressed his grief and announced financial help of Rs 4 lakh for the family of the child,” said Uma Shankar Bhargav, District Collector of Vidisha.

The collector further said that action will be taken against those who are responsible for the situation. The boy Lokesh Ahirwar was rescued after stringent efforts by the NDRF team. However, he died soon after.

Earlier, Vidisha ASP Sameer Yadav said that three teams of the SDRF and one team of the NDRF were on the spot conducting rescue operations.

“Three teams of SDRF and one team of NDRF are on the spot. A camera was lowered into the borewell and the child is being monitored, and oxygen is being supplied. We cannot talk to him and food has not been delivered yet,” Vidisha ASP Sameer Yadav had said.

The incident took place around 11 am. Police and administration reached the spot immediately. There can be movements noticed in the child and we are trying to rescue him as early as possible: Vidisha ASP Sameer Yadav
