Nitin Gadkari gifts road projects worth Rs 9400 crore to Jharkhand

Ranchi, March 23: Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stone of 21 road projects worth Rs 9400 crore. Under the central scheme, 532 km stretch of road will be constructed in Jharkhand.

Nitin Gadkari said that Highways are the growth carrier of India and Jharkhand will have to play a major role in this. However, the Jharkhand government stayed away from the programme.

Gadkari attended two back-to-back programmes held in Ranchi and Jamshedpur which were attended by the senior BJP leaders from Jharkhand. The project includes construction of the Ranchi ring road. Besides this. the four laning of NH 75 from Kudu to Udaypura worth Rs 1423 Crore, four laning from Udaypura to Bhogu worth Rs 1437 Crore, four laning from Bhogu to Sankha worth rs 1391 Crore, four laning from Khajuri to Bidhamganj worth Rs 1232 Crore. The project also includes construction of Chatra bypass worth Rs 235 Crore and double decker road in Jamshedpur worth Rs.1876 Crore. Besides, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 10 National Highway projects of 220 km at a cost of Rs.3843 crore for Kolhan also.

Outlining the objectives of the Narendra Modi government to build road infrastructure, he said that Jharkhand is an important state playing a major role in the development of India.

He informed that the central government has decided for an ambitious project to develop Jamshedpur Inter Corridor which will improve connectivity to West Bengal and Odisha. This corridor will bypass Ranchi city and connect Delhi-Kolkata Highway (NH-2) and East-West Corridor (NH-6), providing Jamshedpur-Kolkata direct connectivity. He informed that this route from Hatgamaria to Bokna Hathichowk (NH-320G) in West Singhbhum district will provide better connectivity to Naxal-affected areas and aspirational districts with the construction of Kolebira road.

He informed that the central government has sanctioned a project worth Rs 7000 Crore to develop an inter corridor between Ranchi and Varanasi that will reduce the travel time.

He said that Jharkhand will also be connected with Chhatisgarh through the 635 KM long Raipur-Dhanbad economic corridor for which the government will spend Rs 15000 Crore. he said that this corridor will expedite transportation of mines and minerals.
