ALH Dhruv helicopter makes forced landing in Kerala’s Kochi

Kochi, March 26: An Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH-DHRUV) Mark 3 helicopter was forced to make a landing in Kochi, Kerala on Sunday. The helicopter was being tested by the force’s pilots when the forced landing occurred.

A Coast Guard helicopter crashed on Sunday shortly after departure from its enclave at the Cochin International Airport Limited, injuring one person.

When a forced landing was necessary, the helicopter was around 25 feet in the air. The ALH Dhruv fleet’s activities are being worked on by the ICG to resume. According to sources, the training flight’s helicopter crashed as it was about to take off from the helipad.

According to early reports, one individual suffered a hand fracture, sources informed PTI.

“An incident of the forced landing of an ALH Dhruv Mark 3 helicopter of the Indian Coast Guard today took place in Kochi while the pilots of the force were testing the chopper. The chopper was at around 25 feet height when it had to make a forced landing. The ICG is working towards resuming the operations of the ALH Dhruv fleet,” ICG officials said in a statement.

From March 8, the fleet of ALH Dhruv helicopters has been suspended due to a mishap involving a Naval helicopter off the coast of Mumbai.

An Indian Navy ALH was involved in a mishap on March 8 off the coast of Mumbai. The Navy said that a naval patrol vessel successfully saved three crew members. It further stated that a probe into the event had been ordered.
