Hazaribag, March 27: Governor CP Radhakrishnan today attended here the state’s first vice chancellors’ meet jointly organised by the Jharkhand’s Technical Education Department and Vinoba Bhave University.
Those attended this program are vice chancellors of Kolhan university, women’s university Jamshedpur, Shyam Prasad University Ranchi, Nilamber-Pitamber University, Sidhu Kanu University Dumka, including Vice Chancellor of Defence University Ranchi.
Other than the Higher Education Department officials, educationists and all the vice chancellors exchanged views on academic development. Several agenda including gross enrollment rate, publication of journals, NAAC evaluation of universities and colleges were discussed in the conference. Also, what changes are needed in the functioning of universities under the new education policy came for discussion.
Radhakrishnan said in his address that a university is identified by its success story and only a Vice Chancellor is considered for achievements in any university. Responding to the questions of Vice Chancellors from various universities, he said that teachers have not been appointed in the university for many years, as well as there is a shortage of non-teaching staff.
“Universities are facing many problems especially regarding appointments. I am specially looking for required appointments,” he said.
He stressed on timely academic calendar as well as development of infrastructures. Regarding the academic calendar, he said every university should follow it and take exams on time. “Biometric system will be mandatory for students in coming time in all the universities. Some universities are lagging behind regarding DG locker, they should complete the work soon. Court cases also need to be settled soon,” he added.

Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University, Ajit Kumar Sinha said that we have to appoint teachers as soon as possible. He further said that women’s college is running without boundary wall and initiative should be taken in this regard.
The Vice Chancellor of Defence University said that we do not have our own campus and so we have to make our campus as soon as possible. Singh. Education Technical Secretary Government of Jharkhand Rahul Singh Purwar, Director Garima Singh, District Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay, superintendent of police Manoj Ratan Chauthe were present in the programme.
