Washington, April 4: Donald Trump, former US president, arrived in New York City on his private jet on Monday. He is scheduled to surrender at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday. Trump will probably have his fingerprints taken on Tuesday before his arraignment, at which he will likely make a not guilty plea.
On Tuesday, the former US President will formally be taken into custody and charged with 34 Class E felonies for falsifying company documents. Yet, according to a person discussing the protocols, he won’t be shackled, housed in a cell, or have his picture taken.
The New York lawsuit is only one of several investigations against Trump, who was being looked into for hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump is becoming the first former US president to be charged with a crime.
Together with other attorneys defending Trump, Todd Blanco, a well-known white-collar criminal defence attorney and former federal prosecutor, pleaded with the judge to prohibit recording, photographing, and broadcasting the arraignment on Monday.
They argued against permitting such coverage in a letter to the court, claiming that it would “exacerbate an already almost circus-like atmosphere around this case” and “detract from both the dignity and decorum of the proceedings and courtroom.”
