Chatra, April.6: The outbreak of measles in Jabda village, Harijan Tola, Birhor Tola and Chatibar Tola in Simaria has sparked fear in the area with one death reported so far here from this disease. The one who died on Monday is 35-year-old Sheela Devi, wife of Umesh Birhor.

Villagers said in each and every house of the above-mentioned villages, four-five people are sick. Most people suffer from small and medium-sized measles. Pimples have come out all over the body of the patients and they are suffering from fever as well. Villagers said patients are using neem leaves and desi ghee to avoid the irritation of pimples.

Many people consider measles to be a divine outbreak, due to which they are avoiding medical treatment and working with home remedies. This is the reason due to which the situation is getting worse. The villagers have urged the health department to take concrete measures, including setting up medical camps to prevent smallpox.

Out of all villagers, the condition of Jabda is the worst as the number of patients is more there. A villager Sukul Kumar said block to district officials and people’s representatives are having information about this outbreak but no one is taking care of them.

The health department said its team is in action in the affected areas since Wednesday providing treatment and all help to patients.

Chatra civil surgeon S.N Singh said the in-charge of the primary health centre of Simaria has been directed to ensure the treatment of patients. Other than visiting each and every house, teams have been directed to organise camps in the villages, he added. But the matter of satisfaction is that all are recovering now, he told Lagatar24.com
