Dhanbad POCSO court awards 20-year jail term to rape accused

Dhanbad, April 6: The POCSO court here today awarded 20 years’ jail punishment  to Krishna Sonar, a minor’s rape accused, in three years old case.
The special judge of POCSO court Prabhakar Singh while delivering the judgement also slapped a fine of Rs 7,000 to Krishna Sonar, besides  20 years of jail term  for the heinous crime.

The APP of POCSO court said that the court had held  Krishna Sonar guilty in the case on Wednesday and reserved  the date  for the pronouncement of quantum of punishment for Thursday.

As per the FIR lodged in Kenduadih police station of the district on July 11, 2020, the accused committed crime with a minor girl on late afternoon of  July 09  when she was alone in the house at around 3 pm.

After the investigation, Kenduadih police finally filed a charge sheet on August 30, 2020. The trial started on July 8, 2021. The APP said total five witnesses were cross examined  during the trial.
