Ranchi, April 8: A Lohardaga-based voluntary organization, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Welfare Society, has expressed its concern over ‘tampering’ with the facts of Gandhi’s assassination and Mughal chapter in the NCERT book.
Society spokesperson Imran Khan in his statement issued today said one can change books, not history.
“History is written, it cannot be erased, especially in the era of Google, it is impossible to erase Mughal, although history is considered as the fifth Veda, but history is a cruel document. It is the one who shows the mirror to the ocean, whose testimony is given by pebbles to skeletons,” he said.
Expressing his concern over tampering with chapter related to Mughal, he said when Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose reached Rangoon on 26 September 1943 as the top commander of the Azad Hind Fauz he prostrated at the tomb of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor and also offered Rs 1000 as tribute.
He said in the eyes of Netaji, Bahadur Shah Zafar was not only the hero of the first war of independence, but also the last ruler of the great Mughal dynasty, which had added a ‘glorious chapter’ in Indian history.
Netaji replied to the British and said it was- about a thousand years after Ashoka, India once again reached the height of its glory under the rule of the Gupta emperors. Nine hundred years after that, once again the glorious chapter of Indian history began in the Mughal period. So, it should be noted that the concept of the British that we became politically united only during their reign is completely wrong. Khan referred to page 274, Volume-12 of Netaji Sampoorna Vangmaya published by the Publications Division of Government of India to support his information.
According to Khan, text related to ‘Mughal Darbar’ has been removed only because if it is studied then Navratnas like Raja Man Singh, Todarmal and Birbal will be seen standing with Akbar and Hakim Khan Sur will be seen supporting Maharana Pratap who took on him. Mirza Raja Jai Singh and Jaswant Singh will meet in the court of Aurangzeb and in Shivaji’s army, the name of artillery chief Ibrahim Khan, naval chief Daulat Khan and Qazi Haider’s name will be recorded as ambassadors in Shivaji’s army.
People would know, he said, that on the orders of Mughal Emperor Akbar, the Persian translation of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Atharvaveda was done by Abdul Qadir Badayuni, while the Persian translation of Kalhana’s Rajtarangini was done by Kashmir’s ruler Zainul Abedin. Similarly, Shivji Maharaj did not say Jagatguru about Mughal Emperor Akbar.
“In fact, not only the text related to the Mughals, but also the facts related to the Sangh’s association with Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse and the ban imposed on it are being removed. Along with this, the lessons related to democracy and people’s movements are also being removed, through which the students get the democratic test of tightening the activities of the existing governments,” he said.
Khan said the attempt is continuously going on to change the history of the country. “Nehru is being vilified daily, attacks on Gandhi continue, Mughals are in target for a long time. Last year, the poems of democracy, secular, non-alignment Faiz and Md Iqbal were removed from CBSE syllabus, I can say with the claim that next time they will attack Buddha and Ambedkar,” he said.
“History is not a building in which one can vandalize and mold it on a new map. Historiography is a professional work which can be changed only in the light of new facts. Archaeological or documentary evidence is necessary for this and not someone’s wish,” he said.
