Jamshedpur, April 11: Deepak Kumar Singh (45) who was undergoing treatment for his gun-shot injuries at a hospital in Calcutta succumbed to his injuries late on the Monday night.
A resident of Bairjhabra bustee in Sonari, Singh was seriously injured on being shot at by two unidentified persons near Cinema Maidan ground in Sonari on March 10 night. The victim who was a bus driver was first taken to Tata Main Hospital and after his condition had improved a little, the family members had shifted him to the Calcutta hospital for better treatment.
Having carried out an investigation into the case, the police succeeded to find out that the gun-shot attack on Singh was made through two contract killers from Bihar by a close relative of the victim.
The police later succeeded to arrest the shooters identified as Navnit Kumar alias Bhola Yadav and Akshay Singh alias Bala on March 20, but are yet to arrest the man Rohit Singh who had conspired the gun-shot attack and two others involved in the case.
According to police, Singh who was the maternal cousin of Rohit Singh had arranged the marriage of the latter with a Baridih-based girl two years ago. But as the marriage failed within a year, relation between Rohit Singh and the victim had turned sour. Eventually, Rohit Singh who is an engineer and works in a Pune-based company had decided to eliminate Singh by engaging the contract killers.
Rohit Singh had paid the two contract killers Rs two lakhs for getting the job executed. Police said the effort to arrest Rohit Singh and two others is on.
