Ramgarh, April 17: For the first time, around 20 to 25 rare black-headed ibis wedding birds were seen in the Rukka and BIT area of Getalsud Dam.

Birdman of Jharkhand, Ramgarh resident, Pannalal, who has been researching this bird for the last decade, saw this bird on the banks of BIT and Rukka in the Getalsud Dam.  This bird is found in the countries of Southeast Asia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Mongolia.  It comes from the Ibis family.

Pannalal said that the head of this bird is black, the body is white and its beak is hooded.  Its leg is black and its length is up to 65-73 mm.  It likes frogs, fish and insects for food.  Their tail turns from white to black at the time of breeding.

Pannalal says that due to being a rare species, there has been a huge decline in their numbers due to hunting.  It is migrating here due to the security of the abundance of food in Getalsud Dam.
