Dhanbad, April 17: Hundreds of 2nd semester-failed B.Ed students of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU)  today sat on fast unto death at Randhir Verma Chowk demanding the re-evaluation of their answer books.

The agitating students alleged that Vice-chancellor (VC) Sukhdeo Bhoi had promised to re-check the answer books of unsuccessful students when they demonstrated on the university campus and blocked the road. But now he has backtracked. He neither got a re-evaluation of answer books nor passed them.

Over 1200 B.Ed boys and girls students of different institutions of the university failed in the semester -2 examination and now they are demanding to be declared successful.

“ We have started indefinite fast unto death and would continue it at Randhir Verma Chowk (near Deputy Commissioner office) till the vice-chancellor comes and assures for giving clearance in 2nd semester,” said the girl students who are sitting on agitation.

The agitating  B.Ed students alleged that today they had gone to meet the vice-chancellor in the morning and he threatened to de-recognize their college and get them to fail again. So, 1200 students have no option left but to sit on fast unto death as their career has been already ruined by the 2nd-semester results.

The agitating students have sent copies of their demand to the Chancellor of the university ( Governor), the office of the chief minister, deputy commissioner Dhanbad and other officials.

Meanwhile when contacted a senior official of the university said that the answer books of unsuccessful candidates were checked and they found no way to get them cleared for passing marks.
